What would you do if money is not a concern?

This is one of my favorite quotes by Alan Watts and a wonderful illustration from Zen Pencils. Alan Watts was a philosopher, writer and speaker. He popularized eastern philosophy in the western world. What If Money Was No Object is a famous quote in which he suggests choosing profession based on your own desire rather than monetary returns. Essentially he asks: What would you do if money is not a concern?

Gavin Aung Than has beautifully illustrated this quote  in his unique style on his website Zen Pencils. You can watch the video of Zen Pencils illustration below –

This is what Alan Watts says in this quote:

If you say that money is the most important thing, you’ll spend your life completely wasting your time: You’ll be doing things you don’t like doing in order to go on living, that is, in order to go on doing things you don’t like doing — which is stupid!

And you can watch another wonderful video of the same talk with commentary in Alan Watts’ own voice:

There is not much to analyze or say in this short post, but I would like to suggest reading two more articles that I had published on My Zen Path earlier: Does money bring happiness? and its next part – How much money do you need to be happy?
